Elder D.L. McPhaull
Elder D.L. McPhaull has been the senior pastor of the Breath of Life Seventh-day Adventist Church in Los Angeles since 2005. He is a gifted communicator, teacher, and powerful preacher of the Word. He is also a much sought-after speaker and evangelist, having preached and won many souls to Christ across four continents—Africa, Australia, Europe and North America—as well as several islands of the South Pacific and the West Indies.
Affectionately called “Pastor Mac,” Elder McPhaull is a graduate of Oakwood College in Huntsville, AL, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in two major areas of study—theology and communication. He is also an alumnus of the Don Martin School of Radio & Television (formerly in Hollywood), where he earned his First Class Radio/Telephone Broadcast Engineering License.
Pastor Mac has actually had two careers—one in the broadcast/entertainment industry, and the other in the gospel ministry. In his previous career, he was the National Director of Promotions/Marketing (Black Product) for Capital/EMI Records in Hollywood. Earlier he enjoyed a broadcasting career in the Los Angeles area as a radio personality, popularly known as Don Mac.
Pastor Mac’s career path took an unexpected and transforming turn when the Lord called him into the Adventist faith. He was baptized into the SDA Church in 1980 and answered the call to the gospel ministry by enrolling at Oakwood for ministerial education and training. His 24 years in pastoral ministry have been very fruitful, having served Adventist congregations in Kansas City, MO; Washington, D.C.; Englewood, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; and Brooklyn, NY. In addition to traveling the globe to share the gospel, Pastor Mac has also written numerous articles for the Adventist urban publication, Message Magazine.
Complementing his pulpit ministry, Pastor Mac is the founder/director/speaker of the Joy of Faith Media Ministry and can be heard weekly on WJOU (Oakwood University Radio) and over KKLA-99.5FM in Los Angeles each Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
Pastor Mac is married to the former Gladys Taylor, and they have four adult children, three daughters-in-law, and six grandsons.
